Psalm 136 King James Version (KJV)
136 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Sometimes, as we begin to get older, we wonder if we have really made a difference in anyone’s life. Grandparents, fathers, mothers, most siblings, significant friends and, as in my case, even children may be gone. Our promised 70 yrs. have been fulfilled by God and we begin to realize that we are moving closer to the front of the line from which we too will be launched into eternity future.
In some cases, we know that we have to let go of those that we have mentored for years and it is heartbreaking. But that’s what parents and grandparents do. When God says, “Let go”, it is because it is in the best interest of the younger. Every one of us must learn to stand on our own two feet. Our spiritual toddlers have to learn to lean and depend on Jesus and not their mentors. And so, we let go, although our heart may feel as though it is breaking.
But then, some sweetly saved Saint that we have mentored says or writes something like what I received today. Oh, my dear, dear sweetie, you absolutely made my day with these words! You will never know how thankful I am to God for you and for all of those like you that I know to love me.
Seasons of Thankfulness
by Evangelist KM
Sister Evans, thank you!
Thank you for always being a listening ear.
Thank you for always admonishing me.
Thank you that in the most significant point in my life
(heeding what God called me to)
you yielded yourself and allowed God to speak through you
to me.
Thank you for your prayers!
Thank you for the wisdom you share.
Thank you for pushing me!
Thank you for correcting me.
Willing to teach me.
Willing to sit back and allow me to bump my head
(and then I come back and show that I’ve learned my lesson).
You are the spiritual grandmother I prayed for.
I love you dearly.
I’m thankful for you!
Dear Ones, as we approach this Thanksgiving Holiday let us all imitate the behavior of this young woman. Let us remember to say “Thank You” to someone who has been special to us. Let us tell God “Thank You” for the sacrifice of His Son. And finally, let us say “Thank You” to Jesus, our champion, for the awesome sacrifice of His life for us. A Heartfelt “Thank You” goes a long way.
To God be the glory for this beautiful thank you note. Thanks so much for sharing. You have been a mentor in many lives, including mine. I may have never started writing poetry if it had not been for you. Love you dearly
Thanks, Sis. Debbie. This comment takes us back to the days when we had Creative Writing classes during our Annual Convocations. We would pray, ask God to bless us to write, grab pen and paper and write to our heart’s content. I felt that since God started me writing by faith He would do the same for others. He did just that and you are one of the ones that continues to write. I believe I still have a folder back in a closet with poems that were written in my class back in the ’70s. Love you, too.
