The resurrection of Lazarus from the dead is one of the outstanding miracles in the Book of John. The account is found in John 11:38-44.

38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, LORD, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

This miracle of Lazarus’ resurrection identifies that Jesus has power over death. He spoke these words to Martha in John 11:25:

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

With these words, Jesus provided us with an answer for all men of all times. If we believe His words, we can have eternal life. The 25th verse says that even though dead, we shall live. All men are dead in the muddy sea of sin. Though we may appear to be alive as we walk upon the face of the earth, without Jesus, we are dead men walking.

Ah, but I thank God for Jesus. Just as He raised Lazarus from the dead, He alone has the power, the only existing power, to resurrect our sin-sick souls from death.

O that men would seek for Him.

O that men would serve Him,

O that men would receive Him and accept Him as Lord and Savior.

O that men would receive Him as their own resurrection and their own life.

Jesus alone has the power to break the yoke of sin from the backs of men and women. He alone can lift the burden that will send one’s soul to hell.

O Men receive Him and allow Him to resurrect your sin-sick soul.

For men and women who have received Jesus Christ, physical death is not an end. It is the beginning of joy, peace, and eternal happiness. It is the first step into the Forever that all of our souls long for.

O that men would open their hearts and minds to our Savior.  O that men would open the doors of their hearts to the true and living God.

My heart is heavy

As it cries out for man

Won’t you receive Jesus?

It’s in your hands.

My tears flow heavily for the lost today.

My soul cries out, O how I pray.

That lost men and women would say

That Jesus, our Savior, is the Only Way.

Let us pray: Dear Heavenly Father, we love you with our whole hearts. We thank you for the gift of your darling Son Jesus Christ, who gave His Life that we might be resurrected. He is indeed our resurrection and our life. Amen.
