Good news everyone.  There are seven positive events that take place supernaturally when an individual repents and accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Let’s look at some of those events and their scriptural support.

Seven Supernatural Events

1. The Blood of Jesus Christ is applied to the soul of the individual and all sins are forgiven. We are redeemed from the curse of the Law and the crushing weight of sin.

Ephesians 1:7 says:  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Gal. 3:13 says:  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

2.  One’s soul is translated from the Power of Darkness to the Kingdom of God’s Son.

Colossians 1:13:  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son

3.  The individual’s name is written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Revelation 20:12:  And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Luke 20:10  …but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

4The destination of one’s soul is changed from Hellbound to Heaven bound.

Every soul born since the original sin of Adam and Eve was and is destined for Hell were it not for the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Hell is the “default” destination without Jesus because of the sin nature that we inherited.  I share this just in case there are some people who think that if they are “good enough” (or at least not too bad) they will go to Heaven when they die.  But the Bible tells us in Is. 64:6:

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

We can never be good enough without Jesus’s redemption.  But the good news is that Jesus Christ died so that we could be set free from the chains of sin.  When one repents of all sins, their ultimate destination is changed from Hell to Heaven.

5.  The inhabitants of Heaven rejoice when one repents and accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise, joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

6.  The person is transformed into a new creature in Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

7. The person becomes a candidate to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

The Necessity of Being Filled with the Holy Ghost

It’s so important to understand that being saved and being filled with the Holy Ghost are two separate and distinct events.  When we repent we are saved, but we need something to keep us saved.  That keeper is the Holy Ghost.  And that is why the Holy Ghost was sent to earth when Jesus left.  Salvation is always first because the Holy Ghost will not come into an unclean vessel.  It is repentance that makes an individual a candidate for being filled with the Holy Ghost, but it is the Holy Ghost that keeps us saved.

Acts 1:8 King James Version (KJV) explains that when you are filled with the Holy Ghost you are then empowered to live the holy life that God requires and to work for the Lord.

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Asking for the Holy Ghost

Being filled with the Holy Ghost is as simple as asking for it.

Luke 11:9-13 (KJV)

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?

13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

A Word of Warning

You have an enemy called the devil who does not want you to repent, be saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost.  So, he will do everything within his power to stop you or cause you to fall short of everything that you need to live for the Lord.  But if you are determined to go to Heaven, God will assure that you are presented with what is needed to get to Heaven.  He gave us his Holy Bible; Jesus, who is in Heaven as our intercessor; the church full of successful saints; the power of prayer and the Holy Ghost to assure that we make it into the Kingdom safely.  Therefore, no devil can stop you when your mind is made up.

Bible Evidence That You Are Filled With the Holy Ghost

And how do you know that you are filled with the Holy Ghost?  The Bible gives us the unquestionable evidence in Acts 2:4

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Speaking in tongues is the Bible evidence that one is baptized with the Holy Ghost.  We should expect it, along with the power that is presented in Acts 1:8, and persist until we receive it.

Wonderful Things

Salvation, sanctification, and being filled with the Holy Ghost are wonderful things.   No one should leave earth without them.
