Jesus came to earth in obedience to His Father to establish a method of Salvation for lost and dying men and women and to re-establish a relationship between man and God.  He hung, bled, and died on the cruel cross of Calvary so that you and I might have a right to the tree of life.  He is now in Heaven again, making intercession for us.  But I have good news tonight.  Jesus is coming back again.

Jesus’ Second Coming will take place in two parts.  In the first part, He will catch up or Rapture the righteous.  The word rapture means to be caught up.  It describes the resurrection of the church, those of us who have gotten saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost.  Let me share a few Scriptures that tell us what will happen:

1 Thess. 4:16-18 say:

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Cor. 15:51-52 say:

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

John 14:1-3

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Now, these scriptures relate to what will happen to the Saints, but you have to know that once the church is raptured out of here there will be a terrible time on earth for those left behind.

On earth, something terrible will take place called the Tribulation.  The Tribulation will be an awful seven-year period of unbelievably disturbing events that will occur such as wars, plagues, earthquakes, and catastrophes, during which about three-fourths of the earth’s population will be destroyed.  There will be a time of punishment upon the earth for all of those individuals who rejected Jesus Christ.  There are many false prophets walking about today claiming themselves to be Jews.  But do they realize that the Jews will go through the Great Tribulation because of their rejection of Jesus, their Messiah?  I suggest that they forget about trying to be a Jew because God is going to punish the Jews for rejecting Jesus.  What they should be trying to do is make the rapture of the church.

The Tribulation will just go from bad to worse.  The Great Tribulation Period, also known as “The Time of Jacob’s Trouble,” is the second half or the final three and one-half years of the Tribulation Period.

Jeremiah 30:7 says,

Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.

Matthew 24:21 states,

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The final three and one-half years of the Tribulation will be a time of distress never known before by man. Were the days not shortened no one would be able to survive.

Now I told you that Jesus’s return to earth was coming in two parts.  Following the Tribulation will be what Matt. 24:27-28 identify as one of the greatest events in our future. It will be the second half of the Second Coming of Christ.   The Second Coming will be:

  1. Immediately after the tribulation (Matt. 24:29; 25:31; Rev. 11:1-19:21).
  2. It will usher in the Millennium (Rev. 19:11-21; 20:1-10).
  3. His return will occur at the time Satan is bound before the Millennium (Rev. 20:1-7).
  4. When He returns, Israel will be restored and converted, and Christ will take the throne of David to begin His reign over Israel forever (Is. 9:6-7; Hos. 3:4-5; Lk. 1: 32-33; Ez. 36:23-28; 37: 16-28). (Dake’s 2014, p. 405).

As said earlier, the Rapture will take place in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.  But Christ’s Coming will be visible to everyone, as it will be apparent from the east to the west.  The Second Coming will be a grand event and will extend over many hours.  (Zech. 14:4).  He will arrive with hosts of heaven and will descend to the earth in the area of the Mount of Olives.  Jesus is coming back again.  If He does not come for us on an individual basis through death, may we all be ready for the Rapture or a part of that great host that will come with Him when He returns to earth in majesty and glory to establish His kingdom upon the earth.
